happy friday! what a week!
a little morning snapshot - polka dots and leopard and some crispy fallen leaves!
(and i am getting one step closer to doing a real outfit post...)
shoes - old talbots, similar here / dress - madewell (my first madewell purchase ever!)

this is a bit of a departure from the weekly wrap-up; i know i accomplished a lot of things this week, but writing them down feels daunting, so i will talk about the upcoming weekend instead!
here are a few things i am looking forward to:

that's a wrap

happy friday, everyone!

this week was kind of a blur in the way that the week after vacation always is.
notable accomplishments:
+  i went to bikram twice (and plan to go twice more over the weekend!)
+  i did NOT purchase anything from j.crew's new fall arrivals. yet. #willpower
+  i am finally less sunburned. remember that citrus mint lotion from whole foods? lifesaver.
+  i may have another craigslist whisperer chronicle; if everything comes together, i will have details on monday!
+  the boyfriend made amazing chicken lettuce wraps with peanut sauce for dinner last night.
i would share the recipe, but he just made it up.
yummy. and healthy!

tonight is date night at the apartment, and we are making this tyler florence gnocchi dish with peas, prosciutto, and lemon ricotta. it rained pretty much the entire time we were in florida, so sunday morning was spent reading the paper and watching food network. when this episode came on, we looked at each other and said, yup, we need to make that!

otherwise, i am tucking in for some reading, relaxing, and secret single behavior while the boyfriend is at a bachelor party on saturday. what is secret single behavior? well, shannon darrow of i love your crazy did a great post on it, but basically it's the stuff you do that no one knows about. my signature ssb? 30 rock marathon with wine and popcorn. in comfy clothes. probably with a magazine or two.

best wishes for a relaxing weekend!

the world is your oyster

i found this print on etsy, and decided i deserved a little midwinter present to myself! during a hectic work week, it's easy to get bogged down in minutiae and lose sight of the big picture, so i can't wait to frame this and hang it as a reminder to take a step back.

to me, fridays feel like the gateway to possibility and the best time to remember that the world really is our oyster. this weekend, take the opportunity to do something that you truly look forward to, whether it's trying new recipe, putting on those running shoes after a lengthy hiatus, or breaking your usual routine and going on a mini-adventure to unfamiliar places in your neighborhood.

here are a few things i am planning on (other than the super bowl!):

hot chocolate at belgique in new canaan (so rich and creamy, and i haven't been since last winter!)

trying out these pancetta and cinnamon waffles (recipe here!)

making more kale chips (a healthy snack to make up for said waffles... recipe here!)

and maybe a long walk to calf pasture beach!

happy friday - enjoy your weekend!

weekend outlook

happy friday!

this week has flown by! i was wrapped up all week finalizing an event for work that took place last night. we tried some new hors d'oeuvres: my favorites were whipped ricotta crostini with basil, nectarine and chili oil, and mini black truffle and mushroom grilled brie sandwiches. YUM. i was also thrilled with the teal table linens: the color was amazingly rich and felt wintery in all the right ways, especially with the flickering light from the votives! sorry, i didn't get any pictures :(

my outlook for the weekend includes a friend's birthday drinks, hosting a little dinner party, tackling thomas keller's quiche lorraine for sunday breakfast, and watching the patriots take on the ravens! GO PATS! i also plan to do a bit of snuggling with this guy:

titus!
